Connecting the Dots

Our Senior Missions Trip, involving some thirteen or fourteen students and staff, are headed to Calcutta, India this year.  They will be lending support to, and working out of, the ministry base of Stewart and Monique Shaw.  Stewart is an alumnus of Peoples Christian Academy.  Stewart’s ministry in Calcutta is a compelling story of compassion and rescue. We may give some background on Stewart’s outstanding story in a later blog entry.
At the missions fundraising luncheon a couple of weeks ago the team showed a video of the ladies of the church in Mizoram, India. The video gave an encouraging message on sacrificial giving for the sake of the gospel. Mizoram falls in the geographic area of northeast India that was evangelized through the efforts of Mr. Watkin Roberts, a missionary who, I understand, was supported in part by The Peoples Church. (I have had the privilege of speaking with Mr. Watkins’ son, Dr. Paul Roberts, himself a missionary to South America.)
Now, a century after this area of India was penetrated with the message of Christ’s gospel, the people of Mizoram, evangelized by Watkin Roberts, are encouraging us at Peoples Christian Academy to give so that others in India might hear the Good News! Quite an interesting twist! I see this as a triumphant story of God’s faithfulness to His Word. “I will build My church . . .”
Please pray for our team as they proclaim the message through words and actions in Calcutta.
