No one likes to be the “hearer” or the “bearer” of a negative message.   That’s why the hard truth is often couched in soft euphemisms or, more often, avoided altogether. I wonder if the apostle, Paul, was referring to our time when he wrote, For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3).
Two books I’ve read recently are written by authors who dare to tell it like it is. In When All the Crosses Are Gone Michael Youssef exposes some alarming trends in the public education system in the United States. He highlights how traditional Christian values are being deliberately expunged from the educational mainstream by pro-Islamist, pro-homosexual lobbyists. He makes mention of how organizations like the ACLU have repeatedly sought to extricate the Christian message from every stratum of American culture, particularly from the nation’s education systems.
The other book is When A Nation Forgets God by Erwin Lutzer, well-known pastor of the Moody Bible Church in Chicago. Without being overly alarmist, Lutzer draws parallels between the sleeping church of today and that of Germany in the 1930’s-1940’s. Hitler skillfully gained control of the minds of the German population through, among other things, spreading his propaganda through the school system. The church became powerless to combat the radical, anti-God re-shaping of German culture by the the Nazis. Lutzer makes an impassioned plea to today’s Christian parent: “We cannot let our public educators take over the hearts of those who are most vulnerable and precious to us. If ever parents must be courageous, it is now.”
Peoples Christian Academy, along with other Christian schools, invites  Christian parents everywhere to join us in delivering the whole truth to today’s youth.  As we gear up for next school year this might be a good time for you to visit our website, www.pca.ca.
